Do you need an exam proctored? The Racine Public Library staff offers proctoring for free during its open hours. You don't need a library card, but if you sign up for a card, you do have access to test preparation platforms and other learning tools.

How our proctoring service works

Before the exam, the proctor will contact the test-taker's school before the exam to verify the student and their test. The school will send us a copy of the test; we cannot proctor tests students bring in themselves. Once we request a test or mail it back in, we aren't responsible for any delays in mailing. Keep in mind that if a student doesn't take the exam by its completion date, we will send the test back or dispose of it.

During the exam, proctors will check in every so often on test takers, but they don't provide constant monitoring. When we check on students, we make sure the student is following the test's rules, including any time limits. We have to report any violations of the exam's rules back to the student's school, including the following:

  • Phone use during your exam is not allowed.
  • Visitors are not allowed during the exam.

Finally, once the test is complete, proctors can't sign verification forms that claim they did more than they were able to do. If there's anything specific your proctor will need to do, please make sure to check when booking the service if we're able to do what you need.

Availability of schedules and spaces

Please keep in mind that proctoring is not the main duty of our staff, so availability depends on staff's schedules and who may have already booked the spaces you need to use. If you'd like to use a study room for your session, please ask about booking when you schedule your session, but keep in mind that we can't promise open rooms. And it's not common, but if your original proctor has a last-minute schedule change, we reserve the right to find you a different proctor.

Tests must be finished at least 15 minutes before the library closes. This means your test can take until 7:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday or until 3:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Lastly, the library isn't responsible for any computer or power issues, or any emergencies that interfere with the test.
